As a Care Ambassador we went to St Helens College to interview and talk to unemployed people who have an interest in working in care.
We also did a talk to other people with disabilities and their carers, this experience made me realise how more advanced our opportunities are at Mayfield Court. Plans for people in care homes to have the opportunity to be involved in recruitment of staff in their home by taking part in the interview process were talked about, this made me realise that at Mayfield we have been interviewing new staff for a good few years now.
I am very proud to be able to tell people that what they are planning we already have in place and share with them the qualities of what we do and how involved we are.

I enjoy being a care ambassador because it gives me great pride to be able to share my experiences with other people.
I feel I have more understanding of the differences in people and their disabilities. I am now able to see the qualities people have rather than their disability, understanding feelings and opinions and really listening with interest. We have done work on communication skills and learning how patience is very important to be able to understand a person who has trouble communicating.
I am very proud to be able to share what I have learnt as a care ambassador with other people.
